Welcome to the Homepage of the Idavoll Kindred, Asatru
You have reached the homepage of the Idavoll Kindred, a group of men and women who have come together in the bonds of friendship to support one another in the practice of the Asatru religion.
Asatru, sometimes called Heathenry, or Forn Sed, is the modern revival and reconstruction of the Pre-Christian cultural religious practices and spiritual worldviews of our brave and wise Northern European ancestors. Asatru is a state-recognized indigenous folk religion in Iceland, and in several other countries, and is legally recognized in the United States of America. Our Kindred represents the only publically operating congregation of Asatru-folk in northern Louisiana, to date. There is an excellent summary of the origins and main beliefs of the Asatru faith found here.
Our Kindred is active serving the area of Monroe, Farmerville, and Shreveport, Louisiana. We meet on a weekly basis, as well as on the religious observances of the folk-calendar, for fellowship and the worship of our Gods.
We at Idavoll support all noble-minded organizations of fellow Asatruar, but we are an independent Kindred.
